Bangkok to Siem Reap by Road

Budget Transport Between Bangkok and Siem Reap

We can get you there on the cheap!

So why fly when you can drive?

There are many ways to travel either way between Bangkok (or other points in Thailand via Bangkok) and Siem Reap. You can choose between flying, gypsy vans from Bangkok to the border, or even by bus. We offer something better--a unique transportation service that is fast, comfortable, door-to-door, and the best value for money.

First, let's explore your options:

Flying is the most expensive way to travel. There are low cost airlines, of course. However, there are strict limits on luggage. In some cases you must even pay for both checked and carry-on luggage.

There are several buses between BKK and SR. Cost is lower than flying, but travel time is 9+ hours each way. Departure times are fixed, allowing no flexibility. You have to find your own way to the departure point in a big, complicated city. Better pack a lunch and bottled water! Some buses are notoriously late and often have mechanical problems.

There are "gypsy" vans between Bangkok and the Arayparathet border crossing. They are cheap, but cramped and run on fixed departure schedules. Once you get to the border you are on your own to navigate Thai and Cambodian formalities spread over about 1km. You need to put your luggage in the hands of a porter, who will meet you when you officially enter Cambodia. Problem is, the area outside immigration is very chaotic and choked with traffic. When you reach the Cambodian side you also have to compete for a taxi to Siem Reap. Good luck!

We Have a Better Option!

Our transportation service between Bangkok and SiemReap is door to door. You can choose a departure time, as long as itis practical. We offer full service all the way, including lunch and VIP handling at the border, which makes it the best value for money.

We pick you up at your hotel or guesthouse in either Bangkok or Siem Reap and transport you to the Aranyaprathet/Poipet border crossing. A member of our staff meets you there and explains border-crossing procedures. We will have one or more porters ready to take your luggage. (You have to pay their small fee in cash.) We use these people regularly and we know they are honest and reliable. We monitor the progress of your luggage as it crosses and know where it is at all times because we will be in contact with them every few minutes.

Once you exit Thai immigration our staff member will be waiting to assist you through the maze on the Cambodian side. We have specially-authorized access to the border area to do this so our staff can move freely. We assist you with a Cambodian Visa on Arrival if you need one, then see you through immigration. By now, your luggage will already be in our private vehicle and you can depart on the final leg of your journey. If necessary we can make a beer stop before you leave Poipet.

Planning to relocate to Cambodia? We have you covered there, too. Why spend thousands of dollars to send your household goods by ship when we can help you do it on the cheap!

Seven Reasons Our Service is Better

  1. 1. Cost is low. For two or more people traveling together the cost is far, far less than flying, even on a budget airline. Besides flying short distances is the most harmful option for the environment.
  2. 2. Door to door. Travel by air, bus or van and you need to find the departure point and be on time, but be careful--Bangkok's traffic is legendary. When you arrive you need to make your own way to where you will stay. Choose our service and we will pick you up where you stay in Bangkok and drop you where you plan to stay in Siem Reap. Running 15 minutes late? You will not be left behind.
  3. 3. Not much more time than flying. Our one-way trips average 6 to 6.5 hours. A one-way flight takes an hour, but you need to leave for the airport three hours before flight. On arrival it takes about an hour and a half to deal with luggage claim, customs and immigration, then a 30 minute trip into Siem Reap. You do the math.
  4. 4. You get to see something along the way. Relax and enjoy the scenery.
  5. 5. We have a liberal luggage policy, and there is no extra charge for luggage. We will carry as much stuff as we can fit into the car or van we use (depending on the number of people).
  6. 6. We use only well-maintained, late-model vehicles with professional drivers, of course.
  7. 7. We can help you with a hotel or guesthouse if you need one. Once you are in Siem Reap, we can provide a full range of private, low-cost sightseeing.
